Volunteer
Mentors - We are looking for volunteer mentors who can speak Arabic, Farsi or Russian for our mentoring scheme that supports migrants, refugees and asylum seekers who are isolated or have mental ill health to achieve their full potential.
Currently we are looking for a Russian speaking woman to provide support for our female mentee.
By mentoring you will be:
- providing a supportive, open, and non-judgmental relationship
- helping refugees and asylum seekers become more confident
- supporting them with social and practical needs (access to education or volunteering opportunities, interpreting support)
- providing assistance to access mainstream community activities
- increasing social connection and reducing social isolation
Mentoring relationships run for a minimum of six months and mentors meet with their mentees once a week for a minimum of 2 hours and do a variety of activities depending on the mentee’s age and interests.
We support our volunteer mentors through on going training opportunities and regular supervision meetings to provide support and advice.
